LAMDA is well-known as the UK’s largest Speech and Drama board and has long-established its reputation for offering nationally-recognised qualifications in a range of speech and performance disciplines. LAMDA enriches all other areas of learning, helping students develop a range of skills that support the school curriculum. For adults the courses will build on existing skills and develop new ones.
LAMDA qualifications are the perfect way to develop self-confidence and self-belief in a caring, nurturing environment. Our LAMDA tutors are passionate about supporting students to be the very best they can be - guiding them through their LAMDA journey helping them to develop some key lifeskills along the way. While the nationally-recognised qualifications are useful for students, LAMDA is more than a means to an examination certificate - it enhances the whole individual and their learning experience thanks to the way it will build self-confidence, self-esteem and communication skills.
LAMDA courses are structured in such a way that they provide a natural progression - and allow a real sense of achievement as important examination milestones lead to qualifications that evidence the journey and the work involved to get there. They offer a holistic approach to learning, complementing a range of more traditional lessons.
But above all getting a LAMDA qualification is a fun way of investing in the development of a range of lifeskills that students will use throughout their careers and that will last them a lifetime.
The examinations are designed specifically to improve an individual’s communications skills, which then cascade through into all areas of life, developing creativity; the intellect and social skills.
For example, Speaking Verse and Prose will help to develop voice projection and memory while developing their Acting Skills will also help individuals understand communicating character and context. In contrast, Mime gives a great insight into the skills needed for non-verbal communication and develops movement skills.
Those studying Public Speaking will develop the essential skills for delivering talks, presentations and speeches - a lifeskill that will prove vital in almost all careers.
For those whose creativity is satisfied by the written word the Devising Drama module will help them to develop their creativity and explore themes through the medium of drama while Musical Theatre training will major on all the skills needed to perform onstage.
There are also opportunities to study for qualifications in Reading for Performance and Shakespeare.
Some qualifications and courses are suitable for individuals, some for duos and trios and some for groups.
